hiii school rank is around 100-120

english advanced: 85% (rank 1/20) - 4 b6s
biology: 85% (rank 4/23) - 3 b6
chemistry: 89% (rank 2/19) - 0 b6s
economics: 91% (rank 1/9) - 2 b6s
science extension: 95% (rank 1/3) - 0 b6s
maths advanced: 81% (rank 7/30) - 6 b6s

this sounds far-fetched but like i really need a 99.95 loll

you are probably on track for around an 97 atar.
the only way to get 99.95 at your school would to be rank 1 in all your subjects (maybe 2nd in 1 or 2), and then excel also in the HSC

of these if you really really improve math by doing a shitton of papers (it's really doable - you got this) you can easily get a b6 in math adv
you're one rank out from getting a b6 anyways (think of it as top 6 get a b6 because last year 6 people got b6)

it's looking good overall

thank youuu!! so just to confirm, can i not get a .95 (or just a 99 for that matter) unless I'm ranked first everywhere?? that kinda defeats my hope, not sure whats even the point of trying if I'm doomed for a lower atar bc of my rank

when you say 'doomed for a lower atar', you do realise you can still do heaps and heaps of courses with things like a 97/98...? there's always pathways and selection rank adjustment factors (i assume for medicine?)

yes i do want to do medicine but unfortunately i didn't sign up for ucat (missed the cut off date). for the universities (like wsu) that offer med for lower atars, they also place emphasis on ucat. that's why i kinda need a higher atar, i also don't fit into any adjustment factors :))

adjustment factors include things like b6s and b5s??? if you're aiming for 99.95 surely you'd be getting those?????

i think carrots made a calculator for atar predictions? i put my marks in there and it gave me a 99.75... how accurate is this if it doesn't take into account ranks?

by the looks of it, your internal exams are easier than the hsc.
carrots' calculator uses alignement and scaling for 2022 data, meaning from the 2022 hsc exams.
if you want, you can compare difficulty against them

how do i know if my internal exams were easier? we did have independent papers and half school papers (english, econ, maths was independent)

btw carrots calculator gives you 99.05, not 99.75.
you must have put science ext as 95, but since it is 1 unit, you have to make it 47.5 ig (even tho .5 is not possible for actual hsc marks)

DONT. GIVE. UP
you were literally aiming to be the top 50 kids in the state, and now that you realise you can't do that, you give up??? what is that mentality. you can still absolutely smash hsc, and who knows, maybe you'll get a 99.05 instead and you can still do almost any course you can dream of. there are hundreds of different careers you can do with that, and if you want to do med, there are still plenty of ways to get into courses. have you contacted unis to ask what you do if you don't get your desired 99.95? have you reached out to past students who managed to get into med without 99.95? if you're so set on getting into this course, don't give up, stay focussed on your goal and get as close as you can to it!

also its just no point stressing out so much - there is still so much you can do

theres literally so many pathways. U can take a gap year if u get the atar and even if u dont u can do any course and just get rlly good in it to transfer while doing ucat next year

tysm, this was rlly motivating. i just don't know of many med courses that accept 99 without ucat except for usyd. I've spoken to students who got in with a 98 but a rlly high ucat score, I'm just mad at myself of the ucat situation i cant believe i missed out on it. the unis have told me that i can do a year of another degree and do the ucat (so id get into med using my atar from 2023 and 2024 ucat score - but they said admissions for that are even more unlikely compared to gamsat students which didn't make sense at all lollll).

ahhhh I'm just so stressedddd idk what to do I'm so mad at myself 😭😭😭
