This is what I found in the online handbook...

The numeric code of a unit of study indicates the level of the unit. Units of study with numeric codes between 1000 and 1999 are first year/junior units, those with numeric codes between 2000 and 2999 are second year/senior units, and those with numeric codes between 3000 and 3999 are third year/senior units, and so forth. Some disciplines designate 2000 and 3000 level units and others use only 2000. Students enrolled in pass degree can only enrol in 1000, 2000 and 3000 level units of study. Degree resolutions indicate which units must be completed in order to fulfil degree requirements. Students should refer to the specific information on their degree.

Which means we only have to do the core subjects(in bold) for our first year

Unit of study:
ACCT1001 Accounting 1A
ACCT1002 Accounting 1B
ECMT1010 Business and Economic Statistics A
ECON1001 Introductory Microeconomics
ECON1002 Introductory Macroeconomics
INFS1000 Business Information Systems Foundations

FINC2011 Corporate Finance I
GOVT2558 Government, Businessand Society
MKTG2010 Marketing Channels and Logistics
WORK2218 Peopleand Organisations
ECOF3001 Business Strategy*
*This unit of study will not be offered in 2006.

I'm assuming you get to pick what you want to do in semester 1 and what in semester 2...but not entirely sure.

Also for majors....not sure when they start? I always thought in year 2?

Okay kids this is what u need to do, (this is Brogan by the way).

U have 6 1st year core units u must do, thos bolded above. In total u do 8 units a year.
This is what u put down:

Semester 1
1. ACCT1001 Accounting 1A
2. ECON1001 Introductory Microeconomics
3. ECMT1010 Business and Economic Statistics A
4. A JUNIOR SUBJECT ELECTIVE, ie. (MKTG10XX or CLAW10XX or ECOP10XX or even a First year arts subject, eg. HSTY10XX...choose a subject you may want to major in)

Semester 2
1. ACCT1002 Accounting 1B
2. ECON1002 Introductory Macroeconomics
3. INFS1000 Business Information Systems Foundations
4. A JUNIOR SUBJECT ELECTIVE, ie. (MKTG10XX or CLAW10XX or ECOP10XX etc. or even a First year arts subject, eg. HSTY10XX etc..choose a subject you may want to major in)

Those sample degree plans I gave to u show u the structure quite explicitly.

In regards to majors,

U do NOT have to choose your majors until second year. A major generally consists of 6 senior units of study in a particular area, eg. ECON or ACCT etc.
However, you must ensure you choose the junior subjects that enable you to do these senior subjects in the area which u wish to major.

Hey Brogan. So basically those six core units are compulsory for all B/Commerce students right?

And from 2006, it is actually 10 core units for the course instead of 11 as 'Business Strategy' is no longer offered?

Yep, thanks for the great help. But LAST LAST LAST QUESTION... I'm hoping to do two majors but can't fit them both in to the first year, is it possible for me to do one of the core subjects from one of my majors in the second year even though its number is GOVT1105 (meaning it is supposed to be done in the first year).

Basically I'm asking if I can do a first year subject in the second year and then get credit for it to my major?
