if ur 5-6th in a 150th ranked school u should be able to get a band 6 without too much trouble - just keep the study up and u'll get 1 for sure.

yeah you should get a band 6.....maybe look at around 85-90/105 for a band 6 as a raw mark

What if you're about 50/119 and your school was ranked 13th last year??

That's an interesting point :)
I just checked and 27.52% were in band 6 for english adv, and 58.75 in band 5, so that makes me slightly less worried!
[24% band 6 for EE1, 47% for EE2]

15.05% in band 6 for mathematics
[49% band 6 for MX1, 50% Mx2]

What do you think now?

Isnt school mark not counted in the UAI contributiondue to the discrepancies by school teachers?! Thus, UAI only calculates UAI based on exam mark!?!

Depends if it's a good english school or not. If your school got to 13th place only from maths, then it's not very likely.
LOL, that's exactly what my school is like. We're superior at Mathematics (for a half selective school at least) but absolutely horrible at English. The gap between English and Mathematics is enormous. (2005: 18th in Mathematics and probably 50+th for English :p) Compare the pair:
Number of band 6/E4 results 2005: (Dunno about percentage, but out of 246 DAs)

English (Advanced): 3
English Extension 1: 7
English Extension 2: 3

Mathematics: 52
Mathematics Extension 1: 52
Mathematics Extension 2: 15

That's why if even if you're ranked 10th in English at my school, your chances of getting over 90 in it are as thin as a needle! On the other hand, if you're at least above average in Mathematics at my school, your chances of getting over 90 for it are quite likely!!!:p

It's counted in your overall HSC mark, but it's moderated depending on how well the school does in the HSC for each subject, and then your HSC marks are scaled and is what makes up your UAI, as far as I know. And schools performances are often pretty solid - I know that my school has been around #13 for at least the last 5 years, and I don't see any reason why it should change this year.
