it all depends on your nationality
not even joking bruvs
I don't think this is racist because I feel as those some nationalities heavily emphasise education and studying to a point that it becomes a bit too much.
Asians, South Asians and Middle Eastern in my experience are those more copious in making their kids study '24/7" but of course, some people aren't like that.

For me, my dads pakistani and my mums half turkish so they were pretty strict with my studies, but it was weird during Year 12 because they never pushed me to do it, because for the first time, they trusted me haha!
Essentially, they didn't stop me from socialising but they did ask me if I really wanted to go and if it was the appropraite time and what not!

Any kids out there who have strict parents, don't worry, most of us do. just show them you are capable of making your own decisions but know that they are honestly just doing what they think is best for you :)

I find that being really open to the parents help. After I started telling them about my marks and the little improvements I was making, they started to trust me a little more.
Before that, my parents used to say this all the time!

I can't have any internet during weekdays. And then on weekends I can get some for like 2 hours after studying. Worst crap I've heard. Always using my smartphone hotspot. It's annoying when I need to do things like research or applications cause parents think I'll just be playing games instead.(until i finally convince them). The closer i get to the HSC the stricter my parents I get I found. Beginning of year was fine, as time went on they got more and more strict, questioning why I even go to the library now...

My Mum doesn't like me staying up late studying (which most of the time I'm not; I'm watching movies instead...)
But then she also dislikes me going out too much. She'll still let me go out, but you can see on her face how much she loathes it.

And then of course she'll drop in that line "Don't you have to study? You're in year 12 now."

I literally do study for about 6-8 hours a day. And go out maybe every 2/3 weeks, not even for that long. Ugh.
Way too much and excessive.

I think my parents are pretty chill in terms of letting me go out and stuff. Except they get a bit annoyed when I say I'm studying but then they see me during my "10 minute break" and they assume that I've been procrastinating the whole time.

My dad tells me to stop studying all the time. I stay in the 'study' room from the time I get home from school so they assume that I'm studying full out...when really fb is open and I have my ipod in.
So at parent interviews when they tell my parents I need to stop "stressing" they think it's because I study too much, when in actual fact the stress is from last minute cramming from procrastinating the entire term.
