For the first time in 2003, the Board Of Studies has revealed the raw marks for these particular subjects. A request for raw band cut-offs marks was initially declined, though in future it may be revealed.

NB: Raw marks are not comparable between years or between courses.

No other raw marks are available, so it generally means they've mixed them up.

No. I presume that was used as the processing fee for retreiving my marks.

It's naive comments like this which cause the Board to hide the data in the first place.

You didn't 'only' get a 61 - your raw mark is not your 'real' mark. If you don't understand the relationship between raw marks and aligned marks and what sort of meaning can and can't be assigned to each of them, create a thread with a request for assistance.

Is it possible for people with different raw marks to get the same aligned mark eg. if the person with a lower raw mark got harder questions right

Although Im not sure about your specific example it is possible and is necessary (at least the reported marks) for subjects like maths where there is 120 marks and only 100 spots to put them in.

But that's only due to rounding - otherwise, the answer is no.

That only occurs in 2U English, where one student is taking Standard and the other is taking Advanced.

In every other course, the same raw mark will result in the same aligned mark and the same scaled mark.

get a high mark and your final mark will still be an indication of your hardwork in regards to teh rest of the state.

well thats great news to finally see some raw marks - cant wait to tell some of my friends...anyway its a pity that they didnt release raw marks for maths ext 2 or economics or the miriad of other subjects out there...oh well the ones on the list get scaled up and i do a few of those courses...possibly wishful thinking but it does boost my confidence a bit...oh one last thing are the raw/scaled marks in the same ratio? i.e. if a raw mark of 73 in english is translated to a scaled mark of 82 does that mean if you got a scaled mark of 79 your raw mark was 70? just curious.

This thread is not the appropriate place to post predictions - please start a new thread in the Guidance & Counsel forum.

A raw mark of 60 may not align equally with a raw mark of 80.

i.e. a 60 may align to 75. a 80 may only align to 87
