anyway, the hype and controversy really hurt the movie. it wasnt that i had high expectations, or whatever, i liked it, although i seem to be raving about munich more than brokeback mountain, and whatever reason it is, it says something.
It didnt touch me enough. And don't we all know that we love getting touched.
Brokeback Mountain is good, but not memorable.
i was also disappointed; found little subtext or depth to it, and thus couldn't relate their relationship outside of the context of the film. all the dialogue seemed really deliberated and emotionally inert. however, heath ledger was as good as they say, and considering he's one of my least favorite actors, that's saying something. and michelle williams was excellent too. donnie darko's performance suffered from the unintentionally hilarious pornstache he sports in the film's latter half.
anyway, nice acting, nice scenery, nice twangy music theme, little else.
