i have done few past papers and i keep averaging 75%+ in trial papers (ruse, grammar etc) and about 67-72% in hsc papers...will that give me a band e4 or i need to work harder?? most of the times i completely leave q8 in hsc papers...do you guys think i should practice those to scrape in few extra marks?? thanks!

Its getting a bit late to learn the techniques that came up in question 8s.
But yes, everyone should be able to scrape a few marks in question 8s if they don't get put off by the wall of symbols.
Not sure about raw marks vs. final, but I think you should be able to get an E4 with 70% raw.

but for 3 unit, the cutoff is generally around 68% so shouldnt the cutoff for 4 unit be much lower like around 63% ??

Wat?

75% = 94 aligned, if I'm not mistaken. The most comfortable of Band 6es.

The cut off for band 6 is about 66%.

For 3u, the cut off for band 6 is about 70%.

This is based of the ultimate raw marks database.

Yep, although I think that is mainly because the trials don't cover all the topics?

For a high scaling subject like 4unit does the difference between internal ranks really matter...because there's a 20% difference between first and last in terms of average ...could the person ranked first still end up with a 94 whilst last (provided they do well enough in externals) be on a 87% ...with the rest in between?

I think it's almost a definite yes, unless through the exam question structure change the raw mark for band E4 rise up by far.

I believe you can get just an E2 by showing up. LOL
~50% is probably an E3
I got about 52% in raw mark in MX2 last year but it gave me a 92 O.O

When you do the HSC do you getto know your raw mark. Or do they onlydisplay your scaled/aligned mark??? And also, do many ppl get over 80raw in 4unit

You can get your raw marks back, but for a fee.

I find the Ruse papers to be significantly harder than the HSC papers, anyone else feel the same way?
