But see, even if your argument is that its a great ideal that can't be implemented successfully, I would still maintain that communism is fundamentally flawed as a theory. You can't have equality. You can't have egalitarianism. Its not feasible. Where is the incentive to do anything if everyone is 'equal'?bassistx said:I am not basing my argument on that show. I just wanted to bring it "closer to home". And it was not intended for you either.
Drop out of uni and follow in the footsteps of your idol, Bill Gates.
You're right. And it's a shame. It is an ideal. And I'm all for it.
You're praising a guy who dropped out and you're saying you're working your ass off. Don't you think that's unfair?boris said:You are the biggest fucking idiot to talk shit on these forums in a long time. Congratulations.
If you bothered to scroll up and actually follow the discussion, you would see that I am not basing my argument on that television show. But if kids can do it, what's wrong with adults?ccc123 said:Oh Jeez. So your basing your utopian/idealistic argument on some shitty channel 10 reality TV show on 10 yr olds deciding between pizza and microwaves?
Source?boris said:Yeah? That's still bullshit.
Do you know what a lot of self made millionaires/billionaires have in common?Nebuchanezzar said:Exactly. Go capitalism! Hoorah!
I would still maintain that capitalism is fundamentally flawed as a theory. It's not feasible in terms of bringing about the best for the human race as a whole (which is what I would imagine everyone wants, rather than just what's best for the minority). Evidence: Africa and Asia.ccc123 said:But see, even if your argument is that its a great ideal that can't be implemented successfully, I would still maintain that communism is fundamentally flawed as a theory. Do you know that a lot of communists have the name 'Boris'?boris said:Do you know what a lot of self made millionaires/billionaires have in common?
BSc/BA degrees. I'm serious.
So, let me get this straight... If everybody was 'equal', you would not work or go to school or do anything at all? People build societies just because. The hunger for power comes later. Don't tell me you're running for PM.ccc123 said:But see, even if your argument is that its a great ideal that can't be implemented successfully, I would still maintain that communism is fundamentally flawed as a theory. No? Why is it unfair? You're praising a guy who dropped out and you're saying you're working your ass off. Don't you think that's unfair?
Me being infinitely smarter than you.Source?

It's not your theory.bassistx said:They reject your (our) theory.
If everyone was given equal opportunities and material things, why would you work? You'll get given this stuff anyway. You don't need to work for it. If people don't work, no money is generated to run the economy. You can't run a government on ideals alone.bassistx said:So, let me get this straight... I was not talking about cutting costs, I was referring to exploitation, poor working conditions, and how weak the worker is.
........I was not taking credit for it.boris said:It's not your theory.
You're regurgitating a load of shit from a tried and failed ideology. If you want to take credit for that go ahead.
*Wtf? Were you not following boris?ccc123 said:*Why this disparaging tone with Bill Gates? Why are you defining 'hard work' in terms of traditional education?
*You have to accept that greed is intrinsic to the human condition. We're not robots. It's only natural for individuals to put their own interests before what's in the interest of "the greater good." Communism has not, and will not work in practice. Nations that have tried have ended up degenerating into regimes just as corrupt as the systems they sought to replace.
You don't get material things for free ffs. You get free healthcare and education.^CoSMic DoRiS^^ said:If everyone was given equal opportunities and material things, why would you work? Anyway. Neb, you're a smart guy. Don't tell me you think that people with a lot of money didn't work for it at some stage. That defies logic.
Pretty much no. Why work if your going to be treated the same as someone who doesn't work?bassistx said:So, let me get this straight... If everybody was 'equal', you would not work or go to school or do anything at all? .
What's your point here?bassistx said:People build societies just because. The hunger for power comes later. Don't tell me you're running for PM .
He was following me. You obviously were not.bassistx said:........I was not taking credit for it.
Credit: 95% Marx, 5% Engels

*Greater good, greater good!
Evidence plz.ccc123 said:You have to accept that greed is intrinsic to the human condition.
Certainly, but most people are also rational and fair, I believe. If the world was exposed to them I reckon that a great deal of people might be more willing to move the balance in the opposite direction. Well, most people doesn't include the BoS capatilist scum krew, but you get my point. :rofl:ccc123 said:It's only natural for individuals to put their own interests before what's in the interest of "the greater good."
I'm not working in absolutes. I didn't say they didn't work at all, but I have a hard time beleiving that Mr. Rich of Macquarie Bank works a great deal harder in his board room than ol Joe Smith down in the foundry. There's a lousy difference between work and income in our beloved capatilist society, AND I FOR ONE AM ANGRY ABOUT IT! RAWR!cd said:Anyway. Neb, you're a smart guy. So you aren't satisfied with free services? My, did I miss something?boris said:Bassistx, google Value Theory.
This is why communism will never work. Hedonism, intuitionism. People will decide for themselves what they value. Pleasure, happiness, satisfaction; moral truths are known simply by intuition.
My value system tells me that money is good. Who are you to tell me this is wrong?
Yes, but. If everyone is going to be treated the same regardless of whether they work or not, there's no incentive for you to work. I'm going to get my free healthcare and education and housing and whatever else anyway, so if I don't want to work, why should I?bassistx said:You don't get material things for free ffs. Death to private schools and health insurance.
Why? If my parents can afford to send me to a private school, why shouldn't they have the option to?bassistx said:You don't get material things for free ffs. You get free healthcare and education.
