Why not? :p

...Which of the below is an example of an external combustion engine?

a) Piston engine found in most cars
b) Boiler on a steam train
c) Rotary engine found in the RX8
d) Rocket propelled sled
e) Turbofan aviation engine

Whoever gets it right takes the next Q - don't make them too hard!

Ze ansar iz B. :)

The rotary and piston are examples of an internal combustion engine, where the energy used to power the engine is released in the combustion chamber. However in a steam train, the energy is released outside the actual steam engine in the boiler.

Take it away DaddyK.

C is the correct answer, congrats to those who got it. Slip was in first though so its his turn in the chair again.

As an aside to shortygb if there is a problem with the engine holding vacuum then the brake booster will not work - this is a serious problem. Don't worry the question was intentionally hard.

Okay since this is not a dedicated car forum, but with car people, I'll make 1 easy and 1 hard Q. Hope people know their turbos for this one! ;)

EASY Q: What problem does high boost/no intercooler normally cause?

a) Leeking throttle body
b) Detonation
c) Extreme coolant temperatures
d) Accelerated clutch wear
e) Sticking valves

HARD Q: How many psi is one bar?

a) 15.0
b) 10.0
c) 17.4
d) 14.7
e) 9.5

Have to answer both right to win the prize!
