Every time I format a new CD-RW disc it says it only has a total size of less than the supposed 700MB. I am not talking about it falling short by a small amount either. For example, the one I just did then says it only has a total size of 573MB:(.

that is because you format it, using direct CD or inCD

these programs write extra information to make CD-RWs easier to use.
ie. you can drag and drop into them.

If you don't format it, it will be full 700meg

Yeah I use InCD. I thought you had to format the CD for it to work:eek:. I usually do make use of the drag and drop option but I don't mind if I can't. Is there any way to delete the extra information that it wrote to them? Also, how do you write to the CD without using the drag and drop method:)?

If you don't use drag and drop you have to consider the CD as a regular non-rewritable CD when writing.

Use Nero Express and add files to the CD then burn it (you will get full 700 megs)

then when you fill it up you can erase the CD (use Full Erase) and start over again.
To erase, in nero express click 'more' down the bottom and click erase CD.

It will still be rewritable though won't it? You will just have to use Nero - Burning Rom:confused:?

Does Nero Express do the same thing as - Burning Rom, because that is what I usually use:)?

Oh cool, so it does still function like a rewritable CD. Again, can I erase it using Nero Express, because that is what I usually use:).

Thanks for your help dude:).

It functions like a rewritable in the sence that you can erase it and write on it
again. However, you can't write and delete as you please.
When you erase you have to erase the whole CD.

Nero express is basily a fool-proof version of nero burning rom.
not really any less featureful.

I think what always made me think it was that whenever I would insert a CD-RW into my CD Burner the InCD program would pop up and prompt me to format:eek:.

Yeah, its like the overheads when you get 256/512/1500kb ADSL connections - you never get the max theoritical speed.
