G'day,

In Terry Lee's book in the section about banked curves when there is a frictional force it talks about a proportional representation between the normal force and the frictional force.

Yet no where I have read how do you find out what the proportion is. If anyone could help out that would be greatly appreciated.

In the book Lee's solutions jump to an equation something along these lines and then simply substitute in a value for u where N(Normal Reaction)=uF. How do I find u?

v^2/gr=((sin (theta) + ucos(theta))/cos (theta) + usin(theta))

You can't get a numerical value for it without having been given values for v, r and the angle.
