hey

what do summer/winter clerks at a mid and top level firms get in terms of wages?

even if they paid peanuts, i think law kids will still be flocking to apply.

I heard a figure once of 50K per annum ... But, because you only work 8 weeks (approx), you only get that proportion of the 50K. So, not much.

In Sydney the lowest I've heard is 700.
Freshfields Hong Kong only pays its vacation interns $3000 HKD ($500 AUD) a week, for a 4 week internship. However, they have a large number of internships slots and fewer graduate offers.

Here the actual figures I have gotten from various friends in melbourne:

Law firms (mid and large): $500-980 a week

and for comparison:

Accounting firms (large): $850-1050 a week (calculated on a per hour basis, usually 37.5 hours)
Investment Banks (IBD): $1300-1400 a week (calculated on a weekly basis, regardless of hours worked)

whoa that's a lot of money!

what about working as a paralegal at a suburban firm? what would that be per hour?
