there were actually over 400 applications and 15 scholarships were awardedBillyMak said:As for how competitive it is, for Actuarial studies they receive 200-300 applications (I have heard) and give out 10-20 scholarships. Last year they gave out 16.
Another sponsor cropped up after they awarded out the scholarships and so another lucky candidate was taken, taking the total up to 16.fitz33 said:there were actually over 400 applications and 15 scholarships were awarded
No, not at all. The fact is a lot apply for the scholarships even though they won't get the marks to get in. I myself could be considered in this category, after all B Commerce was 96 to get in last year and I reckon it is going to raise some more.grimreaper said:400 seems like an awfully large amount applying for just for actuarial studies, there wouldnt be nearly that many doing it at unsw would there?
You can apply for both scholarships, and if you are good enough to get both, then you can accept both (I think). In the 2005 co-op scholarships booklet it does not say anywhere that you can't accept both.Slide Rule said:Can you apply for rural and co-op scholarships (like, not accept both, but jsut apply for both)?
And are there co-op scholarships offered in mathematics/comp sci/nanotech?
actually it was originally 14, then suncorp came on as a sponsor taking the total to 15. (i'm an actuarial co-op, so i know what i'm talking about).BillyMak said:Another sponsor cropped up after they awarded out the scholarships and so another lucky candidate was taken, taking the total up to 16.
most of the time, by that i mean 99% of the time, the lecturers have no idea what they are talking about if it is about admin stuffBillyMak said:Then why did the lecturer at the UNSW open day say that they gave out 16 last year?
