Can someone please give me some ideas on how to explain how coleridge "creates something out of nothing" in general, and specifically in Lime Tree Bower and Kubla Kahn/Ancient Mariner?

Thanks

Well, think about it. A physical 'inconvenience' in Lime Tree, that no-one would think twice about, encourages the persona to take an imaginative journey, and explore elements of his own psyche, ultimately broadening his understanding of himself and the world around him, and allowing a greater appreciation of God through his exploration of nature and subsequent expansion of his panthaeistic values.
Similar for the rest--a seemingly mundane physical situation provokes an I.J, allowing a greater understanding/appreciation.

Thats good stuff, thanks. Out of Kubla Kahn or Ancient Mariner, which do you think would best suit the quote "creating something out of nothing"?

Thanks
