Hi,

I am an international student and I've been looking at getting a place in College Square. Everything sounds perfect until I found out that there is no air-conditioning, and my friend who lives in Melbourne is adament that its essential that there is.

I've looked at one alternative called "UniLodge", all rooms at "D1" are apparently air-conditioned and there would be wireless internet throughout the building (useful, if not essential), but from what I've read, their reputation seems rather poor.

My question is, what is your view on the need for air-conditioning (if essential, would a portable air-conditioner suffice?) and which student apartment would you recommend (parking would be essential)?

Thanks in advance.

I stay in an apartment (out of city) and I have a portable air-conditioner (the ones where you pour in water). It's pretty good. You could always go naked on those evil 40 degrees Summer days
