Apparently Cambridge won't publish it until it is updated for the new syllabus. There is of course a competing Cambridge book (Arnold and Arnold).

But in the meantime Sydney Grammar will make it available to schools as a pdf.

I think it is good that it is available like this for the current syllabus.

It is free for staff and $20 payment requested for each student. I will attach the order form later.

Here is the order form.

You have to get it via your teacher.

I couldn't upload the xls file so compressed it to a zip file.

So basically you give the order form to your teacher. Then they multiply $20 by however many 4 unit students your school has, fill out the form and send it to DS@sydgram.nsw.edu.au and they will send the pdf back to your teacher who can then print it for the students.

Payment is to be made out to

All good fixed. I think the ext 1 is good in general; (well at least from its looks and structure); have mixed thoughts about ext 1 couchman; mostly because I know very little about it, except name, and that it was used occasionally in class; (I have mixed thoughts about the other ext 1/2 textbooks not mentioned if any e.g. Cambridge Checkpoints is rubbish though I will say that; Success is mixed, and I don't trust it; Excel is okay, written also by Patel*). I am kind of glad we didn't use the old Fitzpatrick at school. (I think there was only one exercise that we even bothered using in that book just because of its difficulty)

*cannot say if it is good; because I have used it really that much.

(Sorry for that, obviously past 10pm is not a good time for me to post when I mix things up)

There is also this one; which is in the same format as ext 1 cambridge; with the development and extension questions (attached 10% sample below); it looks a lot better version:

Cambridge 3U was written by Pender (however, I really despise the ordering of topics in the textbook despite depth of questions)

Cambridge 4U was written by Arnold and Arnold...

The best publicly available Extension 2 book, in my opinions, is the new Fitzpatrick.
So for the best text which is not "publicly" available, I am guessing you are referring to the text from Sydney Grammar?

That explains why the difference. Pender's stuff is good.

Use Cambridge. Has better questions than Terry Lee and coroneos however Terry Lee questions are more related to the hsc

Hello tywebb, is it possible to order the book personally rather than through school teachers?

Well you could try.

But my understanding of it is that until it is published (which according to Cambridge will only happen when it is updated for the new syllabus) you get it through your teacher in the manner I described earlier in this thread.

Of course when it is published you can get it yourself online or in bookstores.

I really like the 2/3 unit books and this 4 unit book sounds very promising, but I am doing my hsc next year so won't get to use the published version. Probably gonna ask my teacher when I go back to school.
Anyway thank you for replying.
