Difference between B.Economics and B.Commerce? (1 Viewer)

Just wondering if someone could outline the specific differences between these two courses and why B.Commerce tends to be more popular.

If I'm not mistaken B Ec involves a major from an economics field, while B Com involves a major from any business discipline you want, including economics.

mm (at UNSW anyway), the ONLY difference between a B.Ec and a B.Com is the requirement to do at least one major of either Economics, Econometrics or Financial Economics. Other than that, both degrees have the same variety of majors available (except Actuarial Studies which is exclusive to the B.Com)

i hear that in the first year economics students and commerce students learn the same stuff... as in they attend same lectures and what not

am i mistaken?

yes, both degrees have the same mandatory core subjects (Accounting 1A/1B, Macro/Micro economics & Quantitative Methods)

does that mean if you do economics its easy to transfer into commerce after first year???

what do you need inorder to transfer over?

D average (>75%) and a uai close to nxt yrs commerce cutoff

can you like do eco and then transfer into comm/law?????

u wouldnt have a uai anywhere near comm/law. that is ur natural barrier. there is a limit to how far up the ladder u can transfer. unless ur getting 100% for everything.

but like isn't transfer into law just uai of 95 and D average???
