we use it all the time- we just say the derivative is present so add one to the power and divide by the new power.

Just a quick question:
If the question asked you to find the integral of 2xe<sup>x<sup>2</sup></sup> are you allowed to go straight to the answer (e<sup>x<sup>2</sup></sup>), or do you have show stuff, like let u =x<sup>2</sup><sup><sup></sup></sup><sup><sup>

</sup></sup>

If it's worth 1 mark, I guess it's fine. I would personally show all working to be safe though.

what about putting it the other way around?

d/dx(e^(x^2)) = 2xe^(x^2) :uhhuh:

btw. how do u guys type up the integral and power symbols so neatly?

I guess you could show the derivative and deduce the required integral. But watch the mark allocation.

The integral symbol can be copied and pasted from Microsoft Word, there are also other mathematical symbols that you can find in the list. To do powers in your post, type 2[/ sup] without the space between the / and sup, which will produce a index of 2 3[/ sup] would produce a index of 3, etc.
