Well, looking at the Eco course...about 20% of the HSC content is Yr 11 work.
Personally, I would say that maths is the subject that relies most on previous work. E.g. an inability to do calculus in Yr 11 will be very damaging to your final HSC mark (but there is still time to improve for 05ers)
