I don't mean any disrespect, believe me, but especially when compared to Gary Oldman's he was terrible. He didn't make me believe that he was Gordon, from now on, whenever I hear or see the words "Commissioner James Gordon" I will think of Gary Oldman with glasses.

Blame Tim Burton and Sam Hamm.

Thank Chris Nolan and Frank Miller.

Yeah, that'll do.

Well this is a good taste thread given the guy only just died a day or two ago.

He was fine. The first Batman was good for what it was. Entertaining, good soundtrack, fun overacting.

I completely agree. Hingle wasn't necessarily a bad actor but he failed to grasp the true character of Gordon and, like you, I am sure that he would have done a much better job had a more talented director been in the chair. Burton sucks while Nolan is God.

I understand he died just a few days ago, that is why I started with "I don't mean any disrespect, believe me" because I truly don't, I'm just voicing my opinion.

As for Batman(1989) it may be acceptable for what it was, but I hate what it was. Batman is a deep and allegorical character and Christopher Nolan understands that. Batman(1989) was superficial trash; Tim Burton took a profound character and turned him into just another comic book cheesy hero to the likes of Spider-man and Superman. Shame on you Mr Burton. Shame. Shame. Shame.
