I've chosen IPT as one of my subjects for year 11 but I haven't done IST in years 9-10. Is this a problem? Will it be hard for me to understand the subject without the prior knowledge of IST?

You'll be fine. IPT is not a 'conceptually challenging' subject to learn.

As Drdusk said, Ipt is not that conceptionally challenging, the majority of questions in my personal opinion is just common sense and is more dependent on how you structure your answer rather than technical diffculty.

The majority of it was rotue memorisation of information with just a hint of other practical stuff such as databases. I participated in the Y11 IPT yearlies, having not done IPT and just software development and i came third, this was with a week of studying. If you stay consistent with your studies IPT is a relativity easy subject which will require little work to excel

As others have mentioned IPT is not that hard to get your head around and it's more around how you apply yourself to answer the questions to get maximum marks rather than it deliberately being over the top in volume of content or complexity.

FYI I didn't do IST in years 9/10 and I state ranked IPT.
