when they ask u do descibe the locus of a complex number, can i get all the marks by sketching it?

if no.. what would be the full mark answer for the desciption of this shape:

y^2 = 4 ( x + 1 )

I think you will need to write a brief statement. For this locus, you'd say something like: "a parabola whose axis is parallel to the x axis with V(-1, 0)"
You'd probably have to say all of this because if the locus was a circle, you'd probably describe the radius and centre whereas you don't have this with a parabola.
This seems more like a 3u question so i'd suggest you describe this locus exactly as you would for 3u.

it's 4u, on complex numbers... i just simplified it to that.

just switch the x and y and u can draw that right?
then just rotate it 90 degrees lol

i know.. i can draw it. but the question ask me to describe it in geomertric terms

Then you'd have to describe it in geometric terms like clintmyster said

hey shuning remember how you broke up the parabola in terms of lactus rectume, focus, directrix etc...

just give a description eg

the locus is a parabola with foci (a,b) and directrix x=c etc etc etc .. blah blah blah ..
