I was just wondering if for earth I need to know types of volcanoes (composite, shield, cinder cone)? I can't see a specific syllabus dot point on it but I remember doing a q in class that needed them. If I should, what syllabus dot point should I put my notes on them under?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'd think you need to know them as you are meant to know about effusive eruptions and I can see that relating to some dot points.

No you do not need to know the specific types of volcanoes in EES.

Though that said, my teacher put a question on it in our Trials, forgetting that he did not teach us about them lol. I have never seen a HSC question asking to identify a specific type of volcano.

NB: It's worth knowing the type of lava/rocks which occur at certain plate boundaries (e.g. Midocean ridges tend to have mafic lava producing rocks such as basalt and gabbro). I think there is some dotpoint in the plate tectonics module which requires you to know this.
