Eddy currents are induced in ALL changing magnetic fields, so the efficency is not 100% but very high ( > 95% ) for the AC induction motor, as the rotating magnetic field induces eddy currents into the stators (the squirrel cage thingy), generating heat.

Heat always affect the efficency of electrical equipment.
Resistance ring any bells ?

Yu would write the following

Discuss the weaknesses of a DC generator

- brushes causing sparking and needing to be replaced
- split ring commutator
- Lower generation of current.

then...

Discuss the advantages of an AC generator

- Slip ring commutator system
- No brushes, no sparking, no resistance --> hence no loss of current.
- Higher generation of current

MOTORS not GENERATORS

Induction motors are the most efficient form of motor around. including all internal combustion motors etc.
But of course the syllabus is retarded and doesnt really say that because it is written by a bunch of fools who dont know what they are talking about.

Rant over.

In induction motors, the only friction is that of the bearings, which is minimal. Also, they have no back-emf.

Yeh, power loss reduces efficency, just like practical transformers their power output is always less than power input (never the other way around) to a small degree, because of eddy currents and the choice of material.

induction motor is related to eddy current
but school teachers never teaches that -_-
