first question- i get about 20 spam messages delivered to my yahoo bulk messages folder everyday, do they take up space? if so, how can i get rid of spam messages altogether?

2. what are the advantages of using outlook over web based services? what are the disadvantages if any?

you can use multiple accounts, no web-page loading, send and recieve at a click of a button, messages are stored on ya computer (my inbox has like 4000 messages no joke.. fucken half is from the bos emailer thing from the "thread that u cant go off topic" or whatevers), heaps of featuresssss yeh cuz

overall just fucken simple n quick compared to loading up a shit featured web based slow loading email account

Using outlook will not stop spam.
Try using a program that actually has worthwile spam filters, outlook is shit. Outlook Express is even shittier.

Try eudora: http://www.eudora.com

Yes as all said, spam for hotmail counts, not sure for Yahoo, Spam cannot really be stoppable to be honest, i mean my friends e-mails get sent to my junk box and the spam e-mail goes to my inbox, it's basically the way they detect spam, i think usually they detect if characters like $ symbols or some other ones are present, and as well as blocking some well famous dns address's for the e-mails that's about it.

As for using Outlook/Outlook Express to view your e-mails the only difference is the e-mails get downloaded onto your computer for offline viewing as well, this is called POP Forwarding in Yahoo and it's a service which costs strangely, since Hotmail provides free POP access, but for Yahoo there's a developed program which can allow you to use their POP Service free.

i have it set so that only people in my contacts can go to my inbox, which means that every time i get a new e mail i have to add it, and i check junk mail all the time to make sure there are none from friends with new addresses!

also, any mail in your junk folder doesn't count in your storage space (as far as i know)

with express, you can see who read ur email (the ones u sent) or those who have just opened it and deleted it...

this depends if the person u sending to uses express as well :)
