How is everyone going? I'm considering dropping because I feel so much more confident in 2U and 3U despite getting a pretty good result in 4U (LOL, I know I sound a little cocky.) anyway, I believe the only reason I did good in 4U was that I predicted all the right questions but idk. I think it was a complete fluke.

Anyone considering dropping 4U?

Btw what were the statistics for 4U, it was like 40% of all 4U people get band 5 or 6. Or something along those lines.

dropping 4u and doing 3u is the most batshit insane idea ever - eiether do 2u and pick up another subject, or just man up and finish 4u

About 70% of the state score 80+ in Maths Ext2.
to add to that, this year, 38% got 90+ for MX2 out of a pool of 3,500 students.. :p

so even then you still have a relatively good chance of getting the top band for extension 2 maths =D
and if not then most likely you'll be getting 80s, in which scaling will positively affect your ATAR
but don't concentrate too much on the scaling, it's a lot of work and you have to be good with the content, that's what matters more.

personally I'd drop 4U if i'm getting under 50% for my assessments, in which i hope i dont...

Drop it only if you're absolutely lost, if you're getting over 50% raw you're already in high E3/E4 territory and it really boosts your ATAR.

I usually got 40-50% raw in exams and still ended up with 78, which then gets scaled up. But ATAR considerations aside, are you actually interested in maths?

Well I am doing alright in it :p But I just thought "hmm... would it be better to do great in 2U or mediocre in 4U?" I'm just going to see how I go in my half yearlies. I also don't hate math :p

It probably isn't 100% accurate, but it demonstrates my point nicely. You can confirm those sorts of figures on the actual scaling report - so keep 4u and try your best!

Yeah, that is certainly wrong from this year's information. MX1 scaled down this year, and my Maths Extension 2 mark did not even count in my ATAR calculation. UAC really screwed me over this year, because the scaling changed for just about all of my subjects, and Philosophy was lower too.

keep 4u, it will really boost your atar even if you are getting average results!
