Doing the volumetric prac to determine sulfate content of an unknown and known fertiliser (the same one from the resource section).
The problem is the barium sulfate from the burette just turns the barium chloride and HCL into a milky white colour, not red like it is supposed to. Everyone in the class had the same problem, but teacher is not allowed to help.

Anyone got this problem and how to sort it?

None of the compounds listed or any possible combination there of should turn red.

That's exactly what's supposed to happen. It indicates a precipitate of Barium Sulfate.
