ok. i'm a 1st yr student at mac doing bachelor of media majoring in screen production.
second sem's almost all up, and i have finally accepted the fact that i kinda HATE this course.
i just really didn't find the year interesting.
it wasn't just the fact that it was 100% theory, but that it just seemed to me like everything i was learning and doing was not relevant at all to what i really wanted to do...

so i really wanna transfer.
can anyone help me find a course?
what i'm looking for is something similar, media/film, since i want to enter into the tv or film industry after university.
basically i want a course that i can be genuinely interested and passionate about. i thought i would be passionate about my media course at mac, but after a year i realised i thought wrong.
i rly just want something with a lot of practical work (going out and MAKING short films etc etc). i know there will always be the theory, but im just hoping there's a course where the two are more balanced. not just 100% one or the other..
i also want a course that is FOCUSED and SPECIFIC, if ya understand me..
my problem with my current course is that the work i was doing seemed so trivial and irrelevant to me!
i need a course focused on film ANALYSIS, or film and media PRODUCTION.
a course that isn't too full of irrelevance..

anybody have any ideas??
i really need help on this because i am not doing very well in my course at all becasue i really just have no motivation for it. i really am sick of it already. and i feel its a waste of my 93.65 uai which i worked my ass off for...

I heard macquarie is pretty good

I know the new media arts degree at ANU looks pretty awesome, but I guess you'd like to stay in Sydney.

You're looking for a new media arts degree right? It might be best to ring up some professionals to ask their advice- such as someone in the industry, they're normally very happy to help out.

First year media all share the same subjects, second year you'll do more specialised courses. If you can wait that out you may enjoy it more, and yes the first year courses ARE boring.

but see, what i wanna do, is MAKE some movies.
WORK on projects.

i spoke to a friend in second year b media, and apparently you only rly get to make one film per semester, and you might not even get the role you want, in making that film....
i mean, to me that isn't very appealing...
