Anyone apply for this new course? Any ideas what the UAI will be?

Did anyone apply for this degree at all?!!!!
I didn't get a reply from anyone here on this forum and i find it very odd :mad1:

From what i heard about this degree, so far it's the most popular new degree at UTS Science by far!!! Apparently over 500 applied with just 20 positions available....

Where are you Forensic wannabes???????!!!!!!!!

apparently the uai is 85.
a friend and i both have it in our preferences
dont quite know how she found out the uai needed tho

It's a new course and the UAI was expected to be above 85. The cut offs for next year aren't out yet are they?

ok. i have done some researching.
the international fee paying blah uai for this year = 85.
so it will probably something similar to that and
probably a bit higher if anything

I actually did my HSC in 1999

I had to apply through UAC again for this 'new course' ... and so I feel like a high school student all over again - waiting to see if I get into the course I want to get in

When do we find out?

did you have to write some letter saying why you wanted to do it or something?

you mean find out if you got in?

Yeah. I had to write a Personal Statement to UTS.

When do the offers start coming out? I'll mark it in my calender

main round offers 17 jan
late round 31 jan
final round 8 feb

Well I don't like my chances The co-ordinator told me that there were only 20 positions with 500 applicants

I hope they choose at least one mature age student - ME

whats the diff between the bio one and the chem one?

Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Chemistry Forensic Science - http://www.uts.edu.au/div/publications/sci/ug/c09025.html

From what I understand, the Forensics degree is an Applied Chemistry degree. You would have to complete 3 years of the undergraduate degree (with a lot of chemistry based subjects ) and then do the forensics component as part of the Honours program.

The Forensic Biology degree however is an undergraduate degree that incorporates the Forensics component as part of its cirriculum (3rd year subjects are mainly forensics based). For example:

- DNA profiling
- Investigation of Human Remains
- CSI
- Complex Forensic cases (Law & Biology)
and many more electives...

Imo... Forensic Biology sounds waaaay more interesting

yeah well not me, one of my friends got into the course except she's deferring, she's on exchange in sweden at the mo so she won't start the course till next year..
