Does anyone know that if your unipass is really long (mine was 16 characters), then although (most?) other services will work, myUNSW won't? (Says invalid login, etc).

:uhoh:

I've sent the IT department an email about it.

Did it ever work? You got your receipt printed unipass right?

Yes it did, and it does now. I'm not locked out of the system or totally forgotten it or anything - it all works.

I have just been testing it with other passwords of similar length, etc for maybe 10 mins to confirm my theory, and I am 100% confident that it is in fact true.

I can also provide steps to replicate the problem if you really think that I'm nuts, and I've included those in my email to the IT helpdesk as well.

Seems that I was right, got a reply today:

Hi Max,

Thank you for your email.
The issue has been looked at by the relevant people and what was found out is that the MyUNSW login system only accepts UniPass's that are a maximum of 14 character. A request has been put in place to make changes to that so that any length UniPass will be accepted.

We're not sure at this point as to when this change will occur, so I suggest that in the meantime you change your UniPass to something that is a bit shorter, so that you don't have any problems logging in to MyUNSW.

Regards,
Adam

haha i agree!

WTF is so "awesome" about a 16 character password? nothing! especially when no-one else can see it and how awesome it apparently is! lol

now seriously, who posts about their pw not working? fair enough to go try and resolve it etc, but does the whole community need to know about it, and every step being taken to resolve it? haha
