My teacher said that the Creature from Frankenstein is a personification of the Enlightenment, as he is the creation of science and speaks with reason
However, I can also find examples where he exhibits aspects of Romanticism - e.g. he displays emotions, appreciation of literature (Paradise Lost, Inferno) and feels a connection with nature
Should I argue one way or the other, or just omit it from my essay?
Similarly, do you think it is valid to argue that Roy (Blade Runner) is a personification of science and commercialism? I'm unsure about the latter...
Thanks!
