So i just discovered single degree undergraduates need to do 12uoc of general education which equals 4 subjects in non-FCE. (For me anyway)
But as a 2nd year'er, this is quite hard to fit in, unless i do winter/summer courses.

Thus, i wanna know, if its possible to do 4 subjects, 24uoc, and 1 extra gen ed subject for both semesters this year ... that is, do 27 u o c.

thanks.

i was given 6credit points, "COMM 0005 1 unspecified free option" for a IT subject i did at MQ...would this count as a gen ed subject ?

hmmm, you need permission from your faculty to overload. coz you can't enrol in more than 24 uoc on my.unsw (in mine anyway)

I'm not sure if you can substitue something you did in Mac and transfer the credit to UNSW gen ed. Ask your faculty also.

"UNSW requires that undergraduate students undertake a structured program in General Education as an integral part of studies for their degree.

The University believes that a general education complements the more specialised learning undertaken in a student's chosen field of study and contributes to the flexibility which graduates are increasingly required to demonstrate."

You choose and enrol into Gen Ed courses in your second year of study.

It's just UNSW's special way of screwing people out of a 2nd major:)

Well I think you can, but it's more difficult to fit the necessary units in.

"Combined undergraduate degrees offered with another faculty and leading to the award of two degrees satisfy the first requirement (12 units of credit in General Education) within the program."

Not so sure what happens when both majors are from the same faculty lol
I think I remember with a plain BSc it was impossible to double major unless it was pure maths/applied maths or something similar.

You do FOUR 3 uoc gen eds. However some gen eds are worth 6.
it's hard to fail gen ed, if you fail, you choose another gen ed, or repeat the same gen ed.

Then I would imagine the system is not letting you overload. If you want to overload you have to get approval from your school.

It'd be better to do gen ed during the summer break. Most gen-ed's only go for a week or two during summer, and it gets it out of the way quickly.
