Would love to answer that, but it wasn't one of our focuses this year. We did salinity and stuff. Geo marathon will be hard because it varies heaps from region to region...

individuals- not much. XD
groups- is vital to the success of coastal management- not only do they lobby the government, but many larger groups such as landcare recruit volunteers, and donate money and time in effort to eg, put up sandbags, organise signs, collect rubbish, plant trees, raise awareness.
local- works in tangent with groups such as landcare, and support coastal management through donating funds, implementing legislations (development certificates)
fed+state= funding

what policies did the government implement concerning Australia's changing population pyramid?

Sometimes aid can have negative effects on communities. This is the case when they make decisions about how the aid will be used without taking into account the social, cultural and environmental needs of individual communities. Some choices can have significant impacts that affect health and well-being of the locals. An economic implication is that the Australian government have been criticised by a number of NGOs for its policy of using aid to promote commercial interests. NGOs are concerned that the aid budget is being used to build markets for Australian goods overseas and to assist Australian firms to internationalise rather than meeting the real needs of communities.

Anyways:

There are several geographical processes in relation to coastal management. One includes longshore drift - the process by where sand is moved along the beach either up or down it. Erosion also occurs as sediments such as rocks at the bottoms of cliffs are gradually worn away. Transportation refers to sand gradually removed along the beaches. (can't think of any others off the top of my head!!)

I think there's also

hydraulic action - waves trap compressed air into holes which crack the rock
abrasion - the chipping of platforms by rocks being thrown around by the waves
attrition - when the rocks rub each other which changes their shape and size

The cycle of sand being deposited and taken away is called the erosion-accretion cycle

plus there's also weather like sea salt weathering >.o but i can't remember the details.


here's a question - what are the future problems cause by urban sprawl and strategies to tackle it?
