half-life serial (1 Viewer)

hey, i bought my copy of half-life, last year, and i played with it for a while and then i stopped, now i tried to play (after couple of months of not playing), and it tell me that i have an invalid cd-key. so what should i do now? and to make it worse, now i find counter strike 1.6 steam is out.

* purchase HL again (assuming there is another version out there)
* take it back to the store, enquire
* call up the company (aussie HQ), if available

they've probably increased security or upgraded the version (via patches), so I wouldn't know too much about the authentication procedure with games.

Maybe you've got an older copy of the game, where a new one exists (more $$$ to spend).

uninstall, reinstall?
entered the proper cd key? (just incase...)

No idea, as I dont play games.

check it in regedit or something

Someone else could be using your cd-key.
(by just randomly hammering a key generator)

Ring up the publisher/distributor. Get a new one.

yep, all fixed...my friend gave me his...(i wonder why?)....i think bcoz he wants me to play bfore the hsc, so i can stuff up.

yeah, maybe someone stole it, coz i did have virus attacks throughout the year.

even if some1 is using it it shud have a msg "ur hl cdkey is currently in use"

my bet is u did not type it in correctly... keys dont "automatically" become invalid...

go to regedit

start-run-regedit
hkey_current_user
software
valve
half-life
click the folder - settings

look on the right... under "key"... make sure the key is correct.. it shudnt have any spaces or dashes within the value

(even if the cd box displays the dashes)

Yes this is legit. Legit friends who bought the legit game and don't play it anymore

Actually they all are real.

Pirated ones won't work online.

I know a lot of people who have given up on the game.
