So we've been recently asked to finalize our subject selections and I have chosen:
  • Advanced English
  • 3 Unit Mathematics
  • Software and Development
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Modern History

Is the workload too much? I've been thinking of replacing either S&D or Modern History with Economics, the only problem being that we haven't been introduced to the topic yet. I'm really worried because my friends have made some odd remarks about it, not sure if they have a reason or just to annoy me!

My friends have been saying the same thing. Yet, i'm pretty sure going from modern to economics isn't that much off a difference (in terms of workload, not necessarily type of work). In terms of whether its too much, im doing ext maths, adv eng, physics, eco, legal and sor1. Thats what im doing and i dont know if its too much either but i got 5 weeks at the start of yr 11 so ill just wait and see.

In my opinion, economic concepts are a lot harder to understand than modern although the content is around the same. Having said that, you doing 3 unit maths means you can definitely grasp the maths side of eco :)

Try it for the first few weeks of yr 11. If you think it's too much then, you can drop or change a couple.

That is quite a workload. I can assure you that.
But Economics requires hard work and also has a large workload. I think you're better off as is.

economics isn't really that hard content or concept wise provided you get good foundations/ ability to link ideas
