In the real world:

Hubs - not really used anymore.

Switch - You have groups of computers connected to these. These are connected back to one or more...

Routers - These act as gateways to the Internet (or the _Intra_net on a company LAN).

A gateway is anything that allows access to another network, eg. you can set up a PC to be a gateway and share a modem connection with other PCs on the same LAN.

A router is an actual device, that also happens to be a gateway.

(To *nix zealots - shh.)

Apologies if I'm being vague, I really can't explain much more without mentioning OSI stacks, segmentation, etc, etc. Gomen.

Go watch Love Hina, then. It contains a rather good summary of how to unintentionally fail exams. As well as all the namby-pamby 'if you think you're going to fail, you will' stuff.

Meg, meh chog.

Protocols. Can't remember.

> CDMA - Ethernet??????? WAT are those???

CSMACD - Carrier-Sense, Multiple Access, Collision Domain. Humourous description:

"CSMA/CD is where you get your little brother Billy and have him run out into the street. If he gets creamed, then you wait a little while before you cross the street yourself."

But it's too late now, isn't it?

I'm CCNA. Don't doubt me. :D
(Well. Half-CCNA anyway.)
The "half-CCNA" sounds funny to me... I have a quirky sense of humour (some call it "lameness" :D :p :p)

Oh yeh thats right.

Ok for future IPT students ill explain it once.

A Local Directory is a directory which is located on your hard drive or floppy disk which is local to you, it must be in your computer.
For e.g c:\huy\porn

Remote directory is a directory which is not located on your computer. For E.g http://www.privatefiles.com/huy/sickcunt

Hope that helps. No question interms of this topic will ever get more complicated then this.

An example shows understanding and adaptability.
