for the maintaining a balance course im wondering, are we supposed to know about:
- anabolism/catabolism
- graphs eg. enzyme concentration, substrate concentration, temp, acidity (pH)
- homeostasis in mammals
i couldn't find these in the heinemann book so i am asking u guys..thxa QN from homeostasis in mammals:
A constant level of calcium needs to be maintained in the blood. Calcium is very important in maintaining a proper nerve, muscle and cell membrane function. It is a factor in blood clotting and in the proper growth of teeth and bones. Excess calcium leads to a condition in humans called nephrocalcinosis (calcium deposits in the kidneys), while the lack of calcium causes rickets in children, resulting in bone deformities.
Write a general statement summarising the need to maintain constant levels of calcium in mammalian blood.
