I've been doing a few maths papers and i need help with these questions, and if you can give me worked solution to them that would be nice.

Q3-Q1= 65.5-35.5=30

The IQR is the difference between Q3 and Q1
Q1 and Q3 is determined by the 1/4 and the 3/4 point in the data. Just as a side note Q2 is 55.5

You need this formula: yield=dividend/(market price)×100% (I don't think the formula sheet includes it, so you need to memorise it)


Question 21:
Total= 50×200÷5=2,000

For Q 17

in three extra students go C=2(n+3) + 5 as n is the number of students already going

C=2n+11 so the chose increases by 11-5 = 6 =A

Thanks, but can you explain question 21 for me like why you have to do 50×200÷5 and Question 9 where do you get Q3 and Q1 from, do you use the line? because im trying to cut this graph it quarters and i cant do it :S

Question 21: Total = original number tagged x total recaptured ÷ number tagged on recapture

Question 9: Yes you use the line. Hard to show here but you use the cumulative frequency axis to segment and draw the line down to the corresponding score.
(Plus this question only asked for a rough estimate anyway)

When i segmented the cumulative frequency axis i got 80-45=35 which is C and i checked the answer it was C. Not sure if you did a typo from above but yeah. Just point it out.

By the way do you know what topic Q21 is under ?

Oops... was doing some harder maths in the morning. Perhaps I had completed too much- you are right! Sorry for any confusion caused!

As for your question from the 2007 paper there is a formula you could use:

(n+1)*P/100

Where n is your number of scores and P is in this case 40 as you want the 4th decile.


There is another method-- of dividing the graph once again that most maths general maths books use from memory.
