So I went to the handbook and found out that my timetable must consist of:
LAWS1052 Introducing Law & Justice
Arts Minor – Level 1
Arts Major – Level 1
Prescribed Arts Elective

So I have enrolled into LAWS1052 without any hassle. I have also enrolled into both Criminology which was my major & International Relations as my minor. But the Prescribed Arts Elective is confusing me. According to the site, the elective is "course chosen by the student from the offerings of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences". Thus, I have chosen Philosophy as my elective. Is that correct? It doesn't seem right to me at all because then I'd be doing all three specialisation areas? Or do they mean an elective course of either Criminology or International Relations?
Sorry for my ditziness but I seem to get all flustered when I panic.

Also, I didn't know you could choose your major and minors in the first semester?

Also, if all goes to hell, am I able to switch my degree from Arts/Law to Criminology & Criminal Justice/Law?

P.s according to UNSW, I still haven't accepted the offer as I still have to "proceed with offer"??

Thank you in advance for any help. I'm desperate and it's a saturday.

Philosophy is fine, it's an elective from arts so that's fine.

Also it's best to have an idea of what major or minor you want to do now so you can get all the boring Level 1 courses out of the way quickly, so you can progress to the higher level stuff sooner - rather than doing a first year course in say... Gender Studies, when you're in fourth year and rushing all the Gender Studies courses in fourth and fifth year or something.

And you can internal program transfer into Criminology... / Law at the end of the year. But since it's a Law thing, it's based on academic merit.

You can switch to Criminology once the Semester starts by talking to law student services. Criminology is a bit challenging I heard as you need to do 2 law subjects in 1st sem instead of 1. A lot of people find that difficult and end up transferring out of Criminology/Law.

I don't find doing 2 law a semester any more difficult tbh

Thank you both so much! Makes sense now.

Just one more question, do I have to do a Prescribed Arts Elective? And is that only for Semester 1?

And, with the "Proceed with Offer" button, is that okay or does it indicate I haven't fully accepted the offer?

1. Yes you do, it's just so you fill in the credit points requirement for a major or minor. And you may need to do more than one elective throughout the degree, just check the plan or handbook.

2. You must accept it, or else it'll lapse I believe, for someone else to take during a later round of offers.

But I can't do anything as when I press "continue" it redirects to the main page of myUNSW...
Apparently, I asked my friends, and they said it's normal as it says you're a student

I think I just have to call them, eh?

Hold on, if you're already enrolled - your offer should be accepted already, so that should be fine now.

Thank you so so much!

Sorry to bother you again but just one last question. When choosing an elective, I choose the minor option, right? How does the Uni know I'm choosing french studies as my elective & philosophy as my minor because they're both at the level of minors?

Well, prescribed faculty elective can be anything - it can count toward your major, or minor, or just something random. As long as it's an Arts subject, or administered by FASS.

Also the university doesn't know, so you have to build your degree to make sure they fit to the requirements they have set. They will check, before you graduate, that you have fulfilled the requirements - and they can just pretty much guess what your major/minor is, though I believe you have to declare it anyway - as in tell them, before third (?) year.

So basically, answer to your question is: you'll tell them, or they'll figure it out.
