I have this practise question where i dont really know how to answer, wondering if anyine in here could help a brother out :p, anywho here it is,

Explain an advantage of using domaestic mechanisms to protect human rights with reference to an example. (4 Marks)

Domestic mechanisms such as statute law are enforcable as opposed to international mechanisms. An example might be the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). You could compare it to say, International Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD). Talk about enforcability of the former and the difficulties involved in enforcing the latter.

Another example could be common law. Human rights in Aus are protected by the common law and court decisions are, once again, enforcable. You could compare this to something like the ICJ.
