*sigh* its people like you who make us stay in the closet... as light-hearted as I assume that comment was, its still a little out of line... and typically male... *sigh* every 6 seconds huh?..

Now, in regards to helping this friend, I've been through what she's going through... its a bumpy ride, let me tell you that. But you can't really over come the confusion and frustration about family and people around you until you know in yourself who you really are. Just let your friend know that you're there for her. I'm not saying she's gotta decide what way she swings right now but it's gonna help if she knows within herself. It seems to me that she's probably gay. Until she accepts within herself what she is, she isnt gonna be able to be confident in telling anyone else or being herself. Not to say she has to tell anyone anything. But yeah.. I've kinda lost my point but your friends needs to be strong, coz its gonna b tough, especially with a religious mother. I've got a homophobic father... who also has an anger management problem which is very hard to deal with but my dad has finally accepted it. People will, in the long run, accept it, though they may not necessarily agree with it.
I hope this has helped anyone..
Peace and much love

i didnt tell anyone until i was interested in a girl that was interested in me... my mum said she'd always suspected (thanks mum -_-) my dad was basically in denial, and my friends, who i told separately over a period of months didnt give a shit and were really supportive. but i was just lucky. my advice would be
- dont come out unless she's sure
- dont tell people unless she either doesnt give a shit what they think, know they'll be okay with it, or has to tell them (i.e - parents if they walk in on her pashing a girl...)
- be comfortable with herself first.
you just have to be htere for you friend to listen and support her. realistically, her sexuality is her business, and i dont see why she needs to tell anyone about it. if she gets a girlfriend then the issue may arise, but until then, why bother? unless she feels she's hiding part of herself and she's not comfortable with that. *shrugs* more and more people are becoming accepting of gays/lesbians, i hope it all works out okay for her.

Not everyone eventually does. Which is why this thread exists. Sadly, cos I am really hanging on for the day when even coming out will be unnecessary and people can just love whoever they love without needing to make a song and dance about it in order to ensure none of their loved ones hates them for it.

I'm waiting for that day too... But I've got very accepting and supportive (might I add straight and gay) friends who're there for me..

Sadly, I've got to wait for the one I'm in love with... 3/4 damn years... It's worth the wait though.. We'll see if she feels the same huh?

Your HSC is 2007...so your 16 or 17? And she's what...13?
That is a little odd, but I suppose once she's in yr12 it'll be okay...but do you really think you'll still be in love with her once she's in yr12?
Anyway, how do you know this girl?
Lol sorry I'm not trying to be mean I know what you feel like (I had/have an unrequited thing for a friend for...almost 4 years now, but she's a venement homophobe so at least I know I have no chance! :))

I met her thru one of my friends.. We go to school together.. eep In just KNOW thats gonna bite me..
Anyway, I know a few of her friends... they catch my buses..
How do I know I'll still be in love? Well, it was one of those "love at first sight/meeting" things... anyway, she asked me to wait so I will, until she tells me not to..
Yeh, I'm 17, just turned 17 actually... n she's 13... its like a 2yr 9month age gap thing..
Heh *scratches head* I've been in the 'in love with/crushing on a homophobe' situation thing too... painful is all I can say about it..
EEK.. kinda hijacked this thread huh?
Must go.. cya

Just so you know.. you hurt me with that comment...

The Internet is a cruel dark place honey...not for the weak of heart or find. People may act all nice and try and comfort you and help you out, then they'll stab you in the back and spit in your face.
