Hong Kong Investment banking = KILLER HOURS x 15!!!! (literally ppl end up suiciding by jumping out of their apartments over there due to the pressure!!)

I have quite a few friends and colleagues working in HONG KONG and it is like take the Australian i-bank hours and multiply that by 15 multiply that by 20 times for the politics and backstabing.
Are you retarded?

What is this... so many threads about investment banking... Sure, its easy to imagine working in one of these IB's,, however,, have you really thought about it realistically...? Chances are, you wont get it! Its tough, but thats the world we live in.. Its easy to imagine working at an IB when we get a HD in an assignment, imagining, the money, the status, etc etc... But its probably not going to happen.. they are dreams for the most part...

Dream? More like a nightmare.

Nah just kidding I'm sure IB is ok, but really...are you sure you wanna join as an Analyst? What do you get...you slave your arse off doing 10X more work than the people who get paid 10X more than you only to end up in the unlucky (or lucky) 90% that do not receive a contract renewal after their 2 year analyst contract is up. Then you get to look forward to joining the Centrelink queue.

Newbie: I think that UBS are recruiting straight to HK (IIRC).

I've spoken with people who've worked in HK, and yes, HK hours = NY hours > Sydney hours.
