You should be able to do it all on your own if you have a fairly new system and OS
all you have to do is to take off the case and then find a space to fit it in. Then you plug your IDE cable to it and make sure that the red cable is on the side where the first pin is. Then if you want to use it as a media play too you shuld connect the audio cable (usually comes with the burner) to your cound card/motherboard at the appropriate place. (if you are not sure, read the manual of either your sound card or mother baord). Then you put on screws on either side of the drive to secure it. And you have a working CD burner
ooh.. don't forget to disconnect your system from the mains before you do anything.. and wear anti-static strap or ground yourself by touching matellic objects (uncharged) if possible. (usually you won't damage anything.. things are not so delicate these days.. that's just a safety percaution)
Oohh.. and I forgot to mention.. usually your burner is automatically installed when you turn on your system if you are using a fairly new OS that supports CD burner. (I assume you are using XP?)
And.. forgot to answer your questions..
How much would a decent cd burner cost??
A good one costs ~$60, and that includes rewrite.. However, if you do not already have a DVD drive (not DVD burner!) you could consider spending some extra money (~$40) to get a Combo Drive which has all the function you need as a CD burner + DVD (read)
Any place is good as long as they have good customer services and you feel good buying there. Computer junkies would usually go to places that specialise in computer parts and things.. but if you are not so sure places like Harvy Norman/Bing Lee are always a good start. Although, DON'T FEEL BEING PRESSURED TO BUY ANYTHING! if you don't like buying there, just go. And one last thing, at places like Harvy Norman/Bing Lee you could often try to bargin, so don't take the marked price as what you are going to pay D I pay 50 bucks less when I bought my mp3 player @ Bing Lee)
nd usually how long does it take to burn a 35min album???
Depends on your system as well and the finishing + verification... etc. The whole process should take about 2-3 minutes
And also does the sound card of my computer affect the sound quality of the cd burned?
No, it only depends on your source.
