Just wondering. Let's say that i get a uai of 90, and an average umat score. So, that cuts me out of getting into undergrad medicine. So, i do some other course (say, psychology), and i work REALLY REALLY hard, and i also resit the umat. Then i apply for a transfer.

exactly how hard would i have to work? what kind of gpa/percentage would i have to get in my course to be able to transfer to med? would they only take into account my gpa thingy, or would they kind of average this out with my uai?

anyone else here successfully transferred to medicine? Tell me how!!!!!!!

How hard IS IT to transfer to med? Back-breaking hard????

the only option to do medicine via the transfer process is probably via uws
for all transfers youll need a recommended Distinction average, but seeing how competitive medicine can be, then D should be the absolute minimum grade.

however lots of people get into medicine via post grad...which is completing your degree such as med science then transferring.

But, i thought that all unis let you transfer?

well, i know for a fact that uws, uni newc and unsw let you.... But, from what i've read, only the very BEST can get in.... *sigh*

yeah they let you transfer but you need superior marks to be even considered a chance
just do the best you can in the hsc....if you get close to 95 or something then try and apply for unsw also
good luck

see this thread: http://www.medstudentsonline.com/forums/how-to-get-into-aus-undergrad-med-schools-topic1806.html

Ask any questions you have about that post on there.

FTR:
UTAS: at least 6.0 gpa each semester
UNCLE: "close to credit average" for incomplete degree
UWS: icr. i got an interview with a 6.4. I'm thinking probably 6.0
UNSW: idk
UWA: I think about 6.0
UMELB: 7.0
So yeah on average you need a 6.0 GPA to be considered.

Also:
http://www.boredofstudies.org/other/find7.pdf#search='gpa%20ter%20conversion'
page 4 has a GPA to UAI converter (and info on what a GPA is).

Hey. i was going to post on that medstudentsonline thingo, but i haven't recieved the validation email yet... so i'll just post here for the time being...

i was just reading some stuff on transferring, and i was wondering whether you can only transfer to medicine if you do a course within the faculty of health? Coz, i want to do psychology, but that's not one of the faculty-of-health-listed courses..... or maybe i'm wrong and my mind is playing tricks on me (once again)...

so, can i transfer to med from any bachelor course?

edit: uhhh.... aussichica7 - you're a medstudentsonline moderator right? well, i've sent myself, like, 3 revalidation emails, but none of them have arrived yet, and i've definitely quadruply confirmed my email address, and i've definitely checked my inbox and junkbox.... so.... why won't the email come? <sorry for going off topic>

For UNSW, if you want to transfer into Medicine from any degree, the minimum UAI is 95 to be even considered for transfer. So I guess you probably need a High Distinction average as well.

It can be any degree at all. They only look at your GPA. You won't get any credit from any course (health or otherwise) but they will use your GPA.

I have no idea why the validation email didn't work. i don't handle those sides of things sorry :(

u don't need a HD for non-yr 12 applying to med. your UAI needs to have been at least 95 and I think your GPA should be about 5.90 or higher (5.90 gpa is roughly equivalent to 95 UAI). Of course, this all depends on your UMAT as well (95 UAI + 5.90 GPA would need like 230 raw umat score for example).

I had a 6.0 in first semester and a 97.65 UAI and I was offered an interview to UNSW with a 204 umat. So you can def get interviews with less than 7.0 GPA (UNSW was my 2nd UAC pref so no idea if they accepted me or not but I think I had a good shot lol).
