Hey guys just a curious question (obviously by hand like an exam style)

I'm averaging around 1000 words, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing

Note: not memorized

around 30 wpm so 1.8k in 60 minutes. But I don't usually maintain this speed throughout so around 1.7k?
(this is memorised though).

I think you need to write a bit faster since 1k in 60 minutes which is around 667 words in 40 minutes isn't enough to score high marks in english or probably even humanity subjects!

1600 words (I did it for English Extension One), but you don't need anywhere that amount for English Advanced, around 1000-1200 words is very good already, just focus on answering the question and nothing but the question, don't worry about how many words you are writing too much.

convinced i did a 2.2k essay for extension 1 back in day because it ended up being 4 pages longer than i practised after i adapted it (originally 1.8k) whole thing took about 1hr 10min

now since i don't write all that much and my handwriting speed is piss poor maybe like 1200? i don't pre-write my exam responses anymore and all my exams are 3hrs so i have no idea

About 8-9 pages for economics, not memorised.
And about 1400 for english extension 1, with time to plan. Not quite memorised, but went into the exam with points learned.

my friend could only write about 850 in 40 mins (memorised) and still managed a 93 in Advanced.
So, quality, not quantity (to a large extent)

1.5k-1.8k (it fluctuates a lot depending on how I mold my essay to the question) in an hour.

1k-1.1k in 40 minutes.

In my English exams I wrote 1100-1200 words in 40mins so in 1 hour I'd be writing about 1600-1700 (assuming I would slow down towards the end).

Well i wrote 1300 in 40 min, so i guess I would write approximately 1900-2000 in 1 hr (assuming I get tired), but that's when I've memorized my essays. I've never went in without a memorised essay. I believe you should try to push to at least 1200-1300 words per hour (without memorisation) by the hsc and at least 950 in 40 min. Although it is how you answer the question rather than the amount of words that gets you the mark, you would need at least 950 ish words per essay to fully analyze your two texts and show your true potential to the markers imo.
