don't freak, either of you!!!
white spazzy, you are actually going really well (at least people have actually given your goddamn questionnaire back to you). secondary research is a real tiresome bitch anyway and remember you can locate articles in seconds, primary research takes a lot longer. don't freak...by the way, i had an idea for you (and if anyone steals this i will know, trust me, i will know) - a case study on Drew Barrymore and her use of drugs and alcohol as an ten year old girl. maybe you can attack the effects that the media world had on her life?? (i dunno, just a simple idea...talk to you at school 2mo LOL)
soulshine, i met you on the PIP day and it seemed to me that you knew your topic really well. when that bitchy dude in the suit asked you what it was you answered him so well as if you knew the topic like the back of your hand. remember, i can thank bronny for this (she is my amazing teacher in case you were wondering - just ask white spazzy - bronny makes those PIP teachers look amateurish), secondary research isn't everything - it is just one of about ten methodologies that you can utilise (however, it is probably the only one that you MUST utilise) so don't stress. if i were you i would immerse myslef in some primary stuff first because your topic (and i am assuming that you have stuck with your musical content idea) is more a primary based thing. go out there, into society and find some of these slipknot fans or xavier rudd fans and question them and then using their answers construct a questionnaire. when you know a bit more about your topic through some primary stuff then maybe attempt to locate some secondary sources.
here is an idea: maybe you shouldn't focus solely on slipknot and xavier rudd fans. maybe you could study death metal vs. folk-loving fans and use the environments (city kids vs. surf-town kids) of particular fans as the main influence on the growth of their personal identity.
maybe you could even use age as another cross-cultural component - ask the social question - why do teenagers tend to listen to these types of music and not older people???
i might be completely off the topic, sorry. hopefully i might have helped you. i think i might want to steal your topic though (only joking). it is seriously good, don't do a duspara (shes a girl in my class who changes her topic everyday god love her...i think shes doing australian amish people now...i don't know ask white spazzy) and change.
oh well, desperate housewives is on soon, gotta go.
