How? qu18. 2003 hsc (1 Viewer)

Hey people, does anyone happen to have the solution to question 18 of last years HSC exam, I heard you can do it graphically but I don't know how,

also anyone know anywhere i can get this years CSSA exam?

Hmm you can do it graphically but I wouldn't.

What you need to remember is:

Normal at the wharf is vertical.

Normal at the roller is 90 degrees to the tangent at that point.

What will happen is that the ramp will slip if the coefficient of friction is less then the horizontal compenent to the normal at the roller. (The tangent is at 25° to the horizontal).

You can work it all out if you are still desperate I'll post the exemplar answer from the standards package
