for my own mark...is it better if we all do well in the HSC ? (this would be for english adv and at a school ranked 180 something I think)
I'm ranked 1 in eng (although I only got around 88 % or so in trials..not the best mark but I know I'll improve before HSC) but my cohort has an avg of around 50-56%...not the absolute best lol.

The best for you is if you smash everyone internally but in the actual HSC everyone does really well. This is very unlikely tho so what will prob happen is everyone will get similar marks to what they got now. Coming 1st is really good for you, however if you're the best by far and nobody can come close to your marks whatever your mark is in the HSC will prob be the best mark and that's what you will get as ur HSC mark.

Your school sits internal exams. You are all ranked based on the results. Then everyone sits the final HSC exam. Your result for the subject is determined as follows:

50% - your own HSC exam mark
50% - the #th best HSC exam mark in your school, corresponding to your rank.

If your internal rank is #1

If your internal rank is #2

is it better if we all do well in the HSC ?

Only if you are not rank one in everything.
