Re: Green P's test...

this test is a joke I don't know how you could fail its soo simple..

its a waste of time and just another way for the RTA to grab some cash.

you don't need to study for it, just walk in and do it...

Some find it 'difficult', yet might be IT employees, go figure... The emphasis on 'graduated licensing systems' developing around AUS - is on the "defensive driver component", that is appropriate and is where the rest of the world team is heading. In AUS, this model is based on EU source program componentry.

its a waste of time and just another way for the RTA to grab some cash.
Accountants set prices, $ go to NSW Treasury.

you don't need to study for it, just walk in and do it...
You *should* study though, particularly the Road Users' Handbook, more to 'driving' than just passing a particular test:-

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/downloads/2007_10ruh_english.pdf

I personally suggest the A5 printed version, easily stored in the glovebox, it has a few spare note pages.

A new RUH edition will be out mid to late 2008 after a new Australian Road Rules package is adopted by NSW and the other jurisdictions. To state the obvious; new road rules on the way!

* One of the changes prohibits the use of front fog lights in clear conditions nationwide. NSW and WA apply that now through seperate regulations.

You need to watch the screen and anticipate any potential hazards. These include doors opening, kids running infront of you, taking corners in wet conditions, etc.

It's pretty easy, and there isnt a lot you can do to prepare for it. They let you do a practice to get used to the computer.

Well put Katie - its part of the growing emphasis on the 'defensive driving' component; to anticipate trouble *before* it otherwise jumps out at you.

Re: Green P's test...

Did anyone get a question on the 3 second rule? Or the distances apart I should be within other cars when turning in a cross-section?

Re: HPT test - serious bizness?

Fuck there's a manual for the HPT?
Fuck.... people fail?!

But honestly, unless you've failed your Ls and/or DART, the HPT is *almost* unfail-able..

I just rocked up, went stab stab stab at the computer screen, and walked out with green P plates and a new licence.

Re: HPT test - serious bizness?

I shifted my mindset to an extremely patient P plater and just waited till it timed out.
Stuff like seeing a hazard up ahead smash the screen, it will even ask you confirmation:
"did u touch the screen?"

If you were too slow, say yes if it was necessary (obvious).

Unfailable as Ciel says.

Of all the HPT threads in this forum you had to find the shortest one with the least amount of info on it.

All you need is common sense to pass the HPT.

You sit at a touch screen. It shows you traffic scenarios or shit that may happen on the roads. It gives you a question like, "touch the screen when it is safe to turn".. then it will show you a video of a cross intersection of you trying to turn right with a huge truck in front of you obscuring traffic.. so OBVIOUSLY it is not safe to turn because you can't see oncoming traffic..

Other shit like.... "touch the screen when you should slow down"..... and there's a video of you driving... and you suddenly see a pram.... and you hit the screen immediately to slow down...

If you hit the screen by accident, there's always a prompt following that asks, "did you touch the screen?", in which you select Yes or No.

It's freaking easy.

Just think SAFE. Be SAFE.

Only freaking retards can fail the HPT.
