These are all my assessments so far:

Ancient - 17/20
Modern - 12.1/15
Art - 8.6/10 and 7.5/10
Adv. English - 10/10
Ext. English 1 - 8.5/10

aaand gave in my Ext. 2 proposal yesterday!

Not that chuffed about any of my results except English. Definetely not happy about my second art assessment, I hate art theory.

So these marks are part of weightings? Where else would the decimals come from.

Confirm this for me. I'll use an example.

I am ranked first by the time the HSC exams roll around, my friend is ranked second. I get the second top mark in the HSC exam, my friend gets the highest mark in the HSC exam.

Do I get my friend's HSC exam mark?

really? so, what if this person who came first had been getting all 90's but the top exam mark was say 80...does that mean their internal assessment mark becomes 80 then? that doesnt seem fair.

Ahh...

And I assume my friend gets my exam mark as their internal, and we both keep our respective HSC marks?

It is fair, it likely means that the school's assessments were comparitively easier than other school's whose top achievers attained internal marks similar to their HSC marks.

Not neccesarily. Your marks will be moderated according to how well your class goes as a whole. So your marks might not be the marks received in the exam - there's all sorts of fiddling that goes on. But that's the general idea of how it all works.

Arghhh bloody hell!!! Just when I breathe a sigh of relief that the half yearlies are on week 10 and week 11, the Chemistry research task has been pulled back one week early. This means:
BEFORE: (thanks to an overdue information handbook we received (meant for last year or something) on assessment dates!!!)
Week 5: Mathematics Extension 2 Short Examination
Week 6: Physics Research Task
Week 7: Biology Research Task
Week 8: Chemistry Research Task

NOW:
Week 5: Mathematics Extension 2 Short Examination
Week 6: Physics Research Task
Week 7: Biology Research Task AND Chemistry Research Task

Every assesssment task listed above is 25% weighting on final mark. That's a noticable portion....This better be the only time I have to put up with this......:(
